Woman it´s time to change the rules!

As women, it is the best time to change the rules. For so many time we have been taught to do things in a certain way. But times are changing. Many women are taking the world by storm by doing things in different (not bad) ways.

I am pretty sure that if you are reading this you are somehow like me. A woman who is always looking to grow. Looking for success while helping and empowering others. In other words, you are an entrepreneur!

Have you ever wondered if things would be easier if you were a man? I am pretty sure you have. I am also sure that you usually feel frustrated when you faced those facts. But the truth is, times have changed... a lot! We are not living in the same conditions as before. Even better, a lot of women around the world are proving it.

The best part is that this is for you too! Want to know more? Keep reading! Let´s go...

It is possible to change the rules

Like you, I also used to think that men had things easier. It happened everywhere and it made me feel really odd. No matter how much I wanted to make the cut, to be successful, to make this world a better place. I was always looked as I was less valuable. Just for being a woman.

The story says so... or not?

We are facing years and years of being treated as women. Since the baby boomer generation, roles have well defined. Men go to work, and women stay at home taking care of children and housekeeping.

But as years gone by, we have started changing things. We are not longer seen as weak. Today we can see women in really powerful positions. The image of female CEO is not rare anymore. And today I want to talk you about two of them. They broke the rules and did not live their lives by what others said. They are CEOs of really powerful companies.

Women who change the rules: Meet Stacey Bendet

If you don´t know Stacey, let me introduce her. She is the CEO and Creative director of Alice and Olivia . When she gave birth to her third child she went on a maternity leave.

But while mothers take months of maternity leave, Stacey came back to work after just 6 days of giving birth. And guess what... she did it like anything happened.

She dropped her two daughters at school. She did her usual routine at work. At lunch time she breastfed her baby and returned home at the usual hour. While she was criticised for not taking her full maternity leave, she understands something. This is life, and she is the CEO. She is an entrepreneur. She says: don't judge me, our lives are not the same.

You can read more about her story here .

Women who change the rules: Meet Marissa Mayer

Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo faced a similar situation. She announced that she would be taking only two weeks instead of the usual 8 weeks. This was enough to spark a fire of critics everywhere.

Some people went as far as saying that she should set the example as a leader. They said that good leaders are not needed every time.

This comment is saying that she does not his team and implies that she is a bad leader. All this only for taking just two weeks for maternity leave . The general comment is that they are setting a bar too high for regular workers. Buy the truth is: they are doing it for themselves. They are not asking for changes in maternity leave policies. This makes everything so illogical.

As a woman, we can change the rules.

This two "sisters" established a good example. You can be a successful woman while also being an excellent mother and wife. You are a woman, as capable of doing things as any man and no one can change that. There is a powerful quote by a remarkable woman. It mentions about everything a woman can do, that quote goes like this:

A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.

Diane Mariechild

We can do everything we want. It is about time that we start believing in ourselves and start acting like that. What do you think? Leave me a comment or drop me a line.
